The premise is that Agent J (Will Smith) has to go back to the 1960s to prevent an alien, who also went back in time, from killing Agent K (Tommy Lee Jones/Josh Brolin).
The alien criminal Boris the Animal breaks out of prison on the moon. He comes to earth and finds a time travel device, so that he can go back in time and kill Agent K, thus altering the timeline, eventually allowing his alien race to invade earth. As the invasion starts Agent J, who can't find K, learns that he has to go back in time to prevent Boris from killing K and stopping the launch of the ArcNet (which prevents alien races from entering earth's atmosphere).
Despite being told not to reach out to the young Agent K, J ends up in the MIB headquarters being questioned by young K. He tells K almost everything about why is in the past and the pair join forces to stop Boris, both of the past and eventually the future.
It's a little nail-biting toward the end, especially when an alien that is helping them, Griffin, alludes to the fact that there will be death, no matter how it ends. Griffin is able to see all possible outcomes of situations. He also adds some comedic relief, when Smith isn't. And in the end we learn a little bit of why K eventually recruited J and how they met for the first time.
Throw in the usual antics of Smith and the dry humor of Jones and you have your typical Men in Black film. Add in the fact that Brolin resembles Jones in almost every way, it's freaky, and it pretty much makes up for the second film in the series, which wasn't that great. Look for all the hidden aliens at the headquarters, such as Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber. It definitely has all the comedy and action of a Men in Black film, as well as a pretty decent plot.
