It’s that time of year again. The shows that ended a few months ago or in some cases more than that are starting up again. And new shows premiere soon too. There are a LOT of TV shows out there. Some good, some bad, some that have jumped the shark seasons ago and some fantastic! Below are the ones that I’ll be tuning into this season.
Returning shows:
ABC:
Happy Endings – Tuesday nights. Premieres Oct. 23 at 9 p.m.
We last left the gang at a friend’s wedding with Max reliving his 80s band. I got into this show a little late in the game, but it has me laughing every week. I love Brad and Jane’s semi-dysfunctional marriage. Though I can take or leave Penny. The show is definitely relatable.
Modern Family – Wednesday nights. Premieres Sept. 26 at 9 p.m.
The season finale ended with Gloria announcing that she is pregnant. I’m curious to see how that plays out this season. Cam and Mitchell’s adoption also falls through.
Once Upon a Time – Sunday nights. Premieres Sept. 30 at 8 p.m.
Emma and Regina work together to save Henry, who has eaten a poison apple meant for Emma. After she slays the dragon, the curse is lifted off of Storybrooke, but Mr. Gold put another spell on the town.
NBC:
Parenthood – Tuesday nights. Premieres Sept. 11 at 10 p.m.
This show ended so early last season. We last saw the Braverman family at Crosby’s wedding to Jasmine. However, the fate of the Luncheonette is hanging in the balance when Adam gets a really good offer to sell it.
The Office – Thursday nights. Premieres Sept. 20 at 9 p.m.
We last left the office in chaos, as usual. The antics will continue this season.
30 Rock – Thursday nights. Premieres Oct. 4 at 8 p.m.
Liz’s boyfriend Criss was determined to show her he can support them. Kenneth didn’t get into the page program again and agrees to let Hazel live with him. And Jack and Avery renew their wedding vows.
Up All Night – Thursday nights. Premieres Sept. 20 at 8:30 p.m.
The finale was all about wedding rings, re-proposals and proposals. Plus Kevin returns to woo Ava back.
Parks and Recreation – Thursday nights. Premieres Sept. 20 – 9:30 p.m.
It was Election Day in Pawnee and Leslie and Bobby Newport are separated by a slim margin. Ben also gets an offer to work in DC. He accepts the job and Leslie wins the election after a recount.
Saturday Night Live – Saturday nights. Premieres Sept. 15 at 11:30 p.m.
This season’s first host is Seth MacFarlane. I feel a Ted sketch coming on. This season has a few new featured players and gone are Kristen Wiig and Andy Samburg.
FOX:
New Girl – Tuesday nights. Premieres Sept. 25 at 8 p.m. (and 9 p.m. it’s normal time)
It’s moving day for Nick, as he gets back together with his ex. This was my favorite new show of last season. The cast works really well off of each other.
Glee – Thursday nights (it moved). Premieres Sept. 13 at 9 p.m.
The season finale was full of good-byes as the senior class graduated and many went their separate ways. This season is full of guest appearances, including Kate Hudson in the season premiere. Plus, it’s bound to have our old favorites and some new faces. Plus, will we finally find out who is the father of Sue’s baby?
Fringe – Friday nights. Premieres Sept. 28 at 9 p.m.
This is the series finale this season! So sad. I hope we get to see more of the future Olivia and Peter. Last season, Olivia and Peter saved both universes. Will we get to see more of their child this season too? I can’t wait! This is bound to be the best season yet for the show because everything will be wrapped up!
CBS:
CSI – Wednesday nights. Premieres Sept. 26 at 10 p.m.
Last left the gang in a shootout with key members of the team fighting for their lives. I don’t know why I still watch this show, but it’s kind of like ER to me, I’m with it to the very end.
CSI: NY – Friday nights. Premieres Sept. 28 at 8 p.m.
Will Mac live or die? As the gang works to catch the suspect, Mac fights for his life and encounters people from his past and the present while he’s unconscious. Do we really care? Again, I only watch it out of loyalty now. And I fast forward through half of the shows during the music montages.
The Good Wife – Sunday nights. Premieres Sept. 30 at 9 p.m.
This is one of my favorite shows. The season finale ended with Kalinda waiting by her door with a gun as her husband knocked.
Cable Networks:
FX:
American Horror Story – Wednesday nights. Premieres Oct. 17 at 10 p.m.
Last season wrapped up with a new family moving into the home and being ‘haunted’ by all that died during the season, which was essentially everyone. Oh yea, and there was the devil baby who attacked his nanny. But this season, while we’ll see familiar faces, is a whole new story that takes place in an asylum. It starts in present day and goes back to 1964. It promises aliens, Nazis, blood, gore, an exorcism and much much more. I don’t know whether to be scared or excited.
AMC:
The Walking Dead – Sunday nights. Premieres Oct. 14 at 9 p.m.
So many have died, including main characters. We left last season learning that the ‘virus’ that turns people into ‘walkers’ is airborne, so essentially everyone is infected. The gang left the farm after being swarmed by walkers. They set up camp outside of a prison. This season promises fan favorite Michonne, who is a skeptic and has trained walkers. It also promises a lot of the comic novels, including the prison, and Woodbury. Plus, Merle is back!
HBO:
Boardwalk Empire – Sunday nights. Premieres Sept. 30 at 9 p.m.
I have to be honest. I’m not a fan of this show, but my boyfriend watches it. I heard the season finale was amazing though.
Showtime:
Dexter – Sunday nights. Premieres Sept. 30 at 9 p.m.
Deb essentially ‘caught’ Dexter in the act of one of his killings. Last season was a little slow to start but that twist at the end was pretty good. Can’t wait to see what’s in store this season.
Homeland – Sunday nights. Premieres Sept. 30 at 9 p.m.
Carrie had to undergo shock therapy as she went off her meds and was fired. This season, she’ll be trying to get her life back together when she is sucked back in to the department.
MTV:
Jersey Shore – Thursday nights. Premieres Oct. 4 at 10 p.m.
It’s the final season for the fist-pumping eight. It’s sure to not be a blast as JWoww is still with Roger. Not sure what’s up with Ronnie and Sammi and Snooki isn’t even in the house, as she’s preggers next door. Wonder what MTV will think of next? It’s too bad Pauly D’s show bombed, but I am sucked into Snooki and JWoww, which was renewed for a second season, so I guess it’s Snooki, JWoww plus baby?
New Shows (I usually give a new show about three episodes before I commit – here is what I’m adding this year).
Revolution – NBC – Monday nights. Premieres Sept. 17 at 10 p.m.
Ben + Kate – FOX – Tuesday nights. Premieres Sept. 25 at 8:30 p.m.
Mindy Project – FOX – Tuesday nights. Premieres Sept. 25 at 9:30 p.m.
Guys With Kids – NBC – Wednesday nights. Premieres Sept. 26 at 8:30 p.m. (Jimmy Fallon created this!)
Last Resort – ABC – Thursday nights. Premieres Sept. 27 at 8 p.m.
666 Park Avenue – ABC – Sunday nights. Premieres Sept. 30 at 10 p.m.

Smash – NBC – January
Girls – HBO – January
Californication – Showtime
House of Lies – Showtime
Shameless – Showtime
Spartacus – Starz – January (last season)
It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia – FX
Mad Men – AMC

In this fourth installment of the Bourne films, gone is Matt Damon as Jason Bourne, though the name is mentioned throughout, and in is Jeremy Renner as Aaron Cross. While the action is pretty good, you really have to know what the other films are about to understand why they want Cross dead, why he is the way he is, etc.
What happens when a small town gets invaded by aliens? Just send the neighborhood watch out to protect the citizens.
This reboot of the 1990 version of the film is all action and pretty faces, but still a great film.
Stallone, Statham and the gang are back with some new friends as they punch, kick shoot and kill their way to get the job done.
This year for the 2012 MTV VMAs, I decided to live blog, up to the minute. Read my comments on the performances, introductions and outfits! And of course, get all the winners right here!
