2012: Year in Review

By Christine Petralia

Jimmy and me!

What my new car looks like.

January 1, 2013

Another year has come and gone. And the world didn’t end on Dec. 21, as the Mayans predicted. This year was semi-uneventful, meaning no real drama. But fun things happened, babies were born and trips were taken. So, without further ado, as in years past, here are my resolutions from last year, so we can see if I accomplished them, then a list of things that happened and finally a list of resolutions for 2013.

Here were my 2012 resolutions:

- Work on my friendships and relationships – mainly make that extra time for all the friends who I don’t see that often. – DONE, KIND OF.
- Write more in my creative blog (which will premiere soon!) – DONE AND DONE.
- Read a lot more (at least a book a month, if not more). – DONE AND DONE.
- Lose weight. – NOT REALLY, BUT I AM HEALTHIER.
- Go see Jimmy Fallon’s show again. – NOT DONE, BUT I DID ONE BETTER BY MEETING HIM AGAIN.
- Go to Europe AND an exotic place! – DO CANADA AND PALM SPRINGS COUNT?
- Learn to let go and stop giving the Italian Catholic guilt trip. – PUTTING THIS ONE ON 2013’S LIST.
- Do more with my hair. – DONE.

Things that happened this year, in no particular order:
- Went to Vegas again.
- Jack Patrick Ward was born in March and also shares his birthday with Kern.
- Planned a kick-ass birthday party for Kern, where Matt Damon showed up.
- Started my creative writing blog.
- Created and launched my personal website.
- Went to Canada for my birthday, where we had the best meal ever high above the Falls.
- Did not attend any beerfests.
- Met Jimmy Fallon, again!
- Helped develop the new website at work.
- Made new friends and re-kindled old ones.
- Got new glasses.
- Paid off my car in May; bought a new car in November.
- Traveled to California for a friend’s birthday and subsequent engagement!
- Taught a zumba class! (Well, kind of)
- Took a kick-ass boot camp class.
- Saw many, many movies.
- Saw another live Conan show.
- Took care of Kern after his knee surgery.
- Saw Madonna’s concert and hated it.

I know there are a ton of other things that happened, but those were the highlights.

And here are my resolutions for 2013:
- Keep working out (at least 3-4 times a week).
- Travel more.
- See Jimmy Fallon’s show or meet him again (or work for him).
- Learn to let things go.
- Keep an open mind.
- Eat healthier.
- Go to more beerfests!
- Get more massages!
- Take a creative writing class (or a cooking class or both!)

This is going to be another good year, I can feel it. What are your resolutions? What is going to make 2013 great?

Read as I head back into the city and meet my idol Jimmy Fallon, again, at the Barnes and Noble in Union Square.

If you’re looking for a good deal, don’t mind being rushed to sign a deal and then waiting to sign the rest of the paperwork, get your car here. Avoid the service department though.
