Episode 10: The Magical Delights of Stevie Nicks (Aired Jan. 8, 2014)
The good news, Franken-Kyle was missing from this episode. The even better news, it wasn’t as lame as I thought it would be with Stevie Nicks and things are starting to pick back up again. But I guess that’s in true AHS fashion. Come back from a break, have three episodes left and be awesome again.
When we last left the coven Marie realized that after the attack on her salon by Hank, she must join forces with Fiona and the coven to defeat the organization once and for all. And in doing so, Marie must also face her demons and the price she paid for immortality. A little random, but interesting none-the less. Queenie ‘sacrificed’ herself to save Marie in the salon attack, so we can only assume that she did die, but you never know in this show.
Fiona, in an attempt to reveal Misty’s true nature as the next supreme, or at least she hopes, brings Misty’s idol to the house, Stevie Nicks, a white witch. Misty, ecstatic to finally meet her girl crush, lets her guard down while on a walk with Madison. It doesn’t really end well when Madison shows that her powers are getting strong and she too can bring people back from the dead. She’s convinced that she is the next supreme and traps Misty in a coffin. Will she survive? Probably, as she was burned at the stake and came back.
Cordelia is just a big ‘ole mess in coming to terms that she’s never going to be good enough for her mother. In addition, to the pickle she got herself in when she married Hank, who in the end betrayed her.
Nan is also convinced that she is the next supreme. She, too, is learning to hone her powers and gets stronger by the day, as evidenced with her mind control trick on her neighbor when she finds out she killed Luke and cremated him.
Meanwhile, while bonding with Marie, Fiona learns what she must do to become immortal. But she quickly learns that even though she’ll sacrifice anything to live forever, she has no soul to make the deal with the devil. Coming to terms with this news, she vows to just kill everyone so she can remain supreme, and enlists the help of Marie. Together they kill Nan to fulfill Marie’s yearly debt with the devil. Nan seems all to happy to oblige to go over to the other side.
Marie and Fiona also cast a spell to take down the witch hunters, or at least start to.
I was pleasantly surprised with this episode. I thought it would be cheesy with Stevie Nicks, but it wasn’t just about her, which was good. I thought the show would jump the shark, but Nicks sings in the beginning when she meets Misty and then at the end with Fiona.
I like the conflict with who will be the next supreme. Madison and Nan are really stepping it up, while Cordelia is just backing off instead of proving her mother wrong. Meanwhile, Zoe’s powers haven’t been explored too much in the last few episodes. And while I like that Franken-Kyle wasn’t around this episode, I am curious what he was up to, as last we left him, Fiona wanted to use him to help bring down the witch hunters.
With three more episodes left, I’m convinced that everything will be wrapped up nicely with a little black bow. I just hope they all stay as good as this last one.
Who do you think the next supreme is? My vote – Cordelia – I feel she’s going to rise up and fight her mother. Then again, it’s probably going to be Zoe and her killer vagina.
