Episode 5: I Am Anne Frank, Pt. 2 (Aired November 14, 2012)

Wow! The plot is really getting juicy.  No present day in this episode. We begin right where we left off with the woman claiming to be Anne Frank holding Dr. Arden hostage. Sister Mary intervenes and Anne Frank is sedated. As this is unfolding, Sister Jude is actually meeting with a renowned Nazi hunter to investigate Frank’s claims about Arden. Upon her return, she speaks with Frank, who speaks of monsters in his lab, though nothing is found. Soon, Frank’s husband arrives at the facility to take his wife home. He explains who she really is, and worries he’ll never get his wife back. Later on, he agrees to let Arden perform a lobotomy on her to ‘fix her.’

Meanwhile, Arden thanks Sister Mary for ridding his lab of the now-deformed Shelley. Later on, we see that Sister Mary left her in a stairwell at an elementary school.

Dr. Thredson prepares to leave the asylum and take Lana Winters with him. They are able to walk out undetected. However, upon arriving at Thredson’s home, where he claims they must be before they go to the police about Briarcliff, Winters realizes just who Thredson really is, Bloody Face!!!! Yes! Zachary Quinto is playing another psycho and I LOVE it! I can’t wait to see where this goes! I had a hunch last week and now know why he was so obsessed with her.

And once that is revealed, we realize why earlier in the show Thredson had Kit confess to killing his wife. Originally Thredson said Kit could avoid the death penalty, but in the end, he’s arrested for his wife’s murder.

While that is going on, the aliens make another appearance, this time invading Grace, who sees Kit’s wife and tries to tell police and Briarcliff officials that Kit is, in fact, innocent.

Sister Jude has also lost her mind. She fears, after learning that she might be wrong about Arden and possibly losing a patient – Winters, that she might not be cut out to run the asylum. So instead of trying to pick herself up, she gets dolled up and heads to a bar to imbibe and hook up with a man.

I really like where this season is going. I had hesitations at first, because the first few episodes had a lot of randomness and stories thrown at you, but things are shaping up really well. The Bloody Face storyline, which at first I was not interested in, now has my full attention. And, I love that aliens are really playing a role in this season too, because I have a weird fascination with them.

Missed an episode? Catch up on the entire season!

Heading the movies this weekend? Make sure it's worth seeing first!
